Feminist Music Therapy Group
An hour-long music therapy group for adult women looking for a creative community to explore their own strength and self-actualization. Focused on making connections and creating music together. All musical experiences and interest levels are welcome!
WHEN: Wednesdays 5:30-6:30pm, Starting Wednesday, October 30, 6 weeks
WHERE: Jewish Family Services of Ottawa, 2255 Carling Avenue, Suite 301, Tiberius Meeting Room
Cost: Free
Feminist music therapy empowers women through music, promoting equality, self-expression, and healing. Addresses issues like gender inequality and trauma, fostering personal growth in a supportive space. Through intentional and evidence-based musical experiences, clients will participate in group musical activities to achieve specific therapeutic goals. Musical experiences include but are not limited to, instrument playing, group singing, songwriting, and lyric analysis
Key areas that will be covered include:
– Participants will build confidence and self-awareness by expressing themselves through music.
– Participants will foster emotional healing and resilience by using music to process emotions and explore personal experiences.
– Participants will develop a sense of community and support by engaging in shared musical experiences and group discussions.
In addition to these important skills, the group features an open and safe space for
individuals to explore their self-expression musically, supporting their mental health
journeys.
