Services and Support for Local Syrian Refugee Families

The Counselling Group of Jewish Family Services is pleased to offer emotional wellness and social support for local Syrian Refugee Families.

We have a diverse multidisciplinary team comprised of social workers, counsellors, mental health workers, play therapists and teachers who will be working together to support children, youth, families and adults in their wellness as they adapt to Canada.

We offer services and supports including:
• Discussion groups
• Parenting workshops
• Home- and community-based family support
• Individual, group and family counselling
• Community presentations
• Other organized events

These culturally and linguistically sensitive services are offered in Arabic and are intended to support Syrian families during their transition to life in Canada.

For more information, inquiries or if you know of a family who may be interested in these services, please contact Kathryn Owens at 613-722-2225 x351 or kowens@jfsottawa.com or Walaa Farahat at 613-762-8585 or wfarahat@jfsottawa.com.
