The Counselling Groups is proud to be a centre of excellence in education and training for the next generation of psychotherapists. We provide internships to those completing their master’s degree in counselling, social work, and related disciplines. As a multi-disciplinary and community-based non-profit organization, we provide students with a variety of learning opportunities and to work with a wide range of clientele, with groups, and the Walk-In Counselling Clinic and Counselling Connect.    

We offer all students weekly individual supervision, monthly peer supervision, staff meetings, and a supportive team environment where you can expect to work independently and manage your own schedule. 

Application Information: 

Internships typically start in May or September and are a hybrid of both in-person and virtual.  

The application period runs from January 1-Feburary 22 at 4 pm. Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted after the closing date and interviews will be conducted in early March.  

Applications received outside of this period and kept on file for review. We receive applications from all universities, but priority will be given to Ottawa based universities.  

Please apply with a current resume and covering letter. Applicants are encouraged to identify any special training and language specializations they may have. All interns will be required to submit a vulnerable sector check prior to starting placement.
